When I put the backdrops up I left a gap at the bottom thinking I’d always have a couple inches of scenery there which would hide the gap but ended up with some of the scenery not filling that gap so added more Masonite to the bottom of the backdrop.

A piece of 2x4 was cut in a curve and attached to the backdrop to align the new strip. Then the strip was attached to it and to some of the uprights that are behind the backdrop. This was followed with some Sheetrock tape and a thin coal of Spackling.

Next foam board was cut and shaped like in the previous areas of the layout to create some mesas. Picking up speed doing this.

Above I took a photo of the mountains just north of town and added it to an image of the layout. I’d like to paint something similar but I’m sure it won’t look quite as nice. In the foreground just behind the sawmill I hope to add some Aspe

n trees and then paint some in on the backdrop with the mountain outline and clouds above the trees.
