…....--- Horizontal Switcher – Servo Mount for Horizontal Throw ---

I would like to use servo control for the three turnouts that are located on my track elevator. Instead of mounting them under the elevator I'd like to mount them on the track surface where they would be easier to service if necessary. I designed the following mount by adapting another mount I had designed ( HERE ) to change the motion of the control wire to horizontal and parallel to the track surface.
This could be used in other situations that it might prove to be valuable in such as animation or turnout control where the servo and mount could be hidden.
Pre-COVID all of the items above could be made and bought for about $8.00. Probably not too much more now and an inexpensive way to control turnouts or other items. You can find other mounting options and a description of the parts above ( HERE ).

If one needs to electrically control one or two things (frog, signals, other) when the servo throws from one position to the other you can mount one or two limit switches to the servo mount. You can also leave them off if they aren't needed.

I might lower the items shown above .050” to get the piano wire a little lower to the surface but as it is now it flexes easily down to the surface if needed. Use one or more short sections of tubing (styrene shown above) to move the piano wire to or below the track or other surface.

The mount and servo could be used to control a turnout or for any other application where it would be of use.

I've updated the one shown above this a little to make it more versatile. The servo mount sits .005” lower to the work surface. This moves the control wire (wire attached to the servo arm) closer to the work place. You can also bend it slightly if needed as shown in the next image.
The large mounting bracket has also been changed so that there are seven guide holes allowing you to decide how far you move the working wire up the control wire. These changes the leverage and also the amount of throw in relation to how far you are throwing the servo arm.
