After a discussion on the internet around wye turnouts I decided to build one using a Fast Track paper turnout I downloaded form their great web site. If you decide to build one of these I'd suggest spending time on their web site's video section and look at the videos pertaining to soldering and building turnout.

I have one of their turnout fixtures along with a PointForm tool for the fixture and also a StockAid tool, both of which are great for filing the stock rails, the frog points and the switch points. I used them in building this turnout and highly recommend buying them for use with either their build fixtures or buidling turnouts like this using a paper template. You need to get the PointForm tool that matches the turnout fixture you get from them if you go that route. In addition to filing the points with the PointForm tool it will also file the correct angle on the frog points to match the turnout number you are working with. In my case the PointForm tool I have is for #6 turnouts but I was able to make it work for this #4 turnout.
