.
Above is a not-totally-to-scale drawing of the track plan. It shows the tracks that are associated with the ‘loaded’ and ‘empty’ coal trains. The empty train (red lines) will leave the hidden storage and traverse the main to the mine then disappear. The loaded train (yellow lines) will exit from the coal mine and traverse the main to hidden storage.
The two trains have a 3rd helper engine towards the middle of the train. The empty train will come into staging and the lead two engines and the cars back to the helper engine will uncouple just ahead of the helper engine. They will back down into the siding on the left above. The helper will then pull forward with the rest of the train until it clears the hidden double crossing back in the mesa. That frees up the tracks to the mine for any other locos/trains that need to use the tracks to the mine.
More on those tracks being laid ( HERE )..
Above the tracks to the mine are being laid. Bottom right is track from staging for the ‘loaded’ train. It emerges from under the loading chutes and heads to the main line, middle right above. Just to the left of it is the crossing where the ‘empty’ train crosses the inner tracks, goes through a building and into a mesa where the tracks are hidden. Across the two tracks to the mine in a tunnel and into the hidden staging to be re-staged.
There are two tracks to the mine and two that leave but only one of those, the inner one comes from the main and goes back to the main and is continous.
Above part of the mine complex building is in place. The building that the empty train will disappear into and from the end of it into a mesa.
Above most of the mine building is in place. There is an addition to the left over the crossing that will hide those tracks. You can see the mesa at the end of the one building that the ‘empty’ train disappears into.
Above the mesa top is off and you can see the hidden track from the mine. At the left is the double track crossing. To clear it of the ‘empty’ train the train has to be split up in the hidden staging area as explained further above.
To be continued, so check back to this page for painting/assembly updates .....
