…............g ------ N Scale Ice Blocks For Reefers ---

A friend was building an icing station where reefer cars were filled with ice for cooling them. He needed some ice blocks for the scene and did some research on what size the blocks might have been that were used for this.

He doesn't have a 3D printer so I volunteered to make some. This was just a few minute project using Fusion 360. I printed about 50 for him and some for myself.

I put some Tamiya putty on mine to make them a little different.

Next I gave them a coat of Vallejo Grey Surface Primer. In hind sight I kink of liked them at that stage best.

I proceeded to spend another few minutes trying some different techniques painting them to look like ice with mixed results. There are some YouTube videos on this but they tend to focus more on painting on canvas and much larger than what we deal with in N scale.

I'm posting this for anyone else interested in finding N scale ice blocks and you can find the print files on my thingiverse account. I'd like to hear form anyone who has worked on painting techniques that they are happy with (sumner-1 (at) 1fatgmc (dot) com.
