Finally we made some progress with more favorable winds. 12 miles might not seem like much, but sailing on a canyon lake with the constant variable wind conditions it seems like a lot.

We were in no hurry and enjoyed the mile after mile of ….

..... beautiful scenery.

There are numerous side canyons that beckon you to enter them but ...

.... we had a purpose at this point and ….

.... that was to make it to Hite under sail.

We were hoping to have time on the way back to the ramp to ….

.... enter and explore some of the side canyons.

....................

Sailing was working out pretty good for this stretch but ….

.... we finally reached a point where we were going to turn into the wind and the day was getting late with the shorter days this time of the year. We lowered the sails and started motoring looking for a place to spend the night but were meet with mile after mile of sheer canyon walls.

.After 3 miles we ….

..... found a very small little indentation on the east bank and were able to pull into it and tie the boat to some rocks there.

The sunset was unbelievable and the rocks really lit up and …..

....................

...... there was a great moon rise to the east.
