Back on the water again after two days off. We motored out a short ways to where we had stopped sailing a few days earlier. If you look at the chat above you will see that it looks like we were beached in water and no where near a shore. The lake was down about 72 feet so the actual shoreline was not were it shows above which is meant to represent the lake at 'full pool'. All of the chart pictures on this trip report show the shoreline as if the lake was full, which it hasn't been for years.

We again had winds that were predominantly out of the north so it was slow going with the day starting off as a series of tacks into the wind.

As we worked up the lake we saw an area ahead of us where it seemed that the water was doing something unusual. I'd read about the striped bass getting into what is called boils where they circle chad and churn the water up as they eat on them. I looked at what was going on through the binoculars and was sure I saw fish jumping. Dottie looked also and felt she also saw fish jumping. It took us some time to work towards what we were seeing and I couldn't believe that it seemed to stay in the same place for so long. When we got very close we finally saw that the water was breaking on the top of a rock out in the middle of the lake that was just under the surface.
Dottie thought for sure we were going to hit it as we sailed in that direction. I was sure we wouldn't but then it appeared that she was probably right and I quickly dropped the outboard in the water and ran a short distance to port to avoid it. After that I worried a little more about hitting a submerged rock but this was the only one out in the lake that we saw.

After only making 5 miles we decided about looking for a good place to spend the night and again found....

..... a really beautiful spot.

I had a little time to try fishing without any real luck as the sun started to set, lighting up the rock walls surrounding us.
