….......--- Turnouts for Staging Yard Done Plus Some ---

(02-11-2020) Finally finished the turnouts for the staging yard plus some extras.

Probably another 20+ hours to put the ties on them before I'm ready to start laying track and turnouts on the part of the layout that will be the staging yard for the rest of the layout.

At this point I won't be using two of the #4.5's and the two curved turnouts shown at the top plus some of the #6 RH and LH turnouts. I wanted a few extra in case I ended up not liking how some of them performed. I'm making them faster and I believe better now vs. some of the first ones I build. Next I still want to build a jig that I can throw a turnout in with short sections of track leading into and exiting the turnout so I can run an engine and a car or two through it before installing them on the layout.

The turnouts and crossing locations are shown in the trackplan shown above. Things will probably change though.

But first I have to get back to the camper and get a few more things, like a door and windows in so I can move it out of the shop, since I need to service some of the vehicles. I won't work on it full time but need to do more than what I've done the last two months which was nothing. The shop is solar heated off of our attached greenhouse but has been in the low to mid 50's and a little uncomfortable. I have a wood burning store but have been too lazy to use it. Good excuse to work on the turnouts in the house. But the days are warming and the shop has been getting up to 60 so time to get to work there again.

Finally got the camper done (Fall of 2020) and we got to go out on a couple really short but nice trips with it ( HERE ).
