….............................--- Sawmill Design/Build – Part 24 ---
.................--- Sawmill Assembly Pt. 2 ---
=========================================
I didn’t like some of the building parts so made some design changes and printed the walls again.
Some of the parts will warp slightly (notice right wall above). I find that I can use a heat gun on them and either bend them back and hold them or if it is something I can lay flat I’ll heat it and then lay it flat with some weight on it and let it sit overnight if I have the time to do that.
A part of the east wall slides in and out. I’ll be able to have it in or out on the layout for better viewing of the interior detail. Keep in mind this isn’t a commercial kit so don’t expect perfection on how the parts fit together. I worked on the opening for the piece that slides in and out above along with a little work also on that piece with a small file.
I had all of the loading docks and stairs to the doors finished but since I raised the walls and put a footer around the bottom of the walls I’m going to need to do some work on those. That might be about the next step or after working on the roof.
The green chain is done (HERE) but I need to do some designing and printing of the posts/beams that holds the roof above the green chain. Hopefully the roof I designed and printed still works.
There is a dock that wraps around the building where the two freight doors are above that will also be in the redesign work.
Above is the original truss layout with the end covering attached to the trusses. I redid those and they will now be attached to the building ends where the truss ends are now. The trusses, if I continue to use them will lift off along with the roof so one can view the interior.
I’m hoping the roof will still fit fine. If not I’ll make changes and reprint it.
I was messing around with the bandsaw sharpening station a broke the saw, it is 3D printed, so will have to print another one and paint it. Painting another is not something I look forward to . It is tiny (View Here).
I painted the floors and I’m fairly happy with them. Still need to print all the equipment that will be attached to them.
I will put the links to the wall and floor print files up soon ( HERE ).
…….. to be continued.
