..............................--- New Head & All New Plumbing -- Part I ---
==================================================
The Endeavour came with an electric head that probably worked but at the time of buying it the lines from the head to the holding tank were clogged so we couldn't use the head.
Besides being clogged the lines were old and .....................
.......... the whole deal smelled. We decided that we didn't want an electric head so ...
.... pulled the old one out and sold it at a consignment store. We also removed all of the lines to the head and from it to the holding tank along with the pump-out lines. This wasn't going to be a cheap mod but a new larger holding tank, new lines and a new head were in order.
After some research we decided on a new Lavac head. It works with a manual pump and we read lots of good reviews with very few negative ones. Above the head is just sitting on the shelf where the old one was located. More on the Lavac head ( HERE ).
In addition to all new thru-hulls for the other plumbing one was also installed for the intake for the head as well.
New sanitation hose was run from the thru-hull under the port side settee and ...
..... through the adjoining bulkhead into the area under the sink counter and up the port side hull.
The line rose above the boat's waterline to a vented loop there. You can run the Lavac with either a manual or electric pump. Once the manual pump was decided on, the vented loop shown above was removed and we went with what Lavac recommend. The electric solenoid, that is shown above, was removed as it was no longer needed. Later the intake line was completed from the vented loop on down to the new Lavac head.
I talked to Trident about the white sanitation hose shown in the picture above and using it on the intake/suction side of the head. They felt confident that it would work but still using an intake hose that was designed to operate under suction, which it would be with the manual pump, was a better option. So I pulled the white hose above and replaced it with a more expensive black hose that is designed to work under suction and you will see it on the last page of the 'head install'. More money spent but I feel better with the newly chosen hose.
