..................--- New Head & All New Plumbing -- Part IV ---
==================================================
On this page we will finish the plumbing for the new head and also the supply line to the head.
Above the discharge line to the thru-hull has been started just past the "Y" fitting that is just past the outlet of the holding tank.
The line goes from below the pump up to the left side of the pump as shown above.
There is another quick disconnect located below and before the pump. Also there is a clean-out fitting above the pump that allows use of a 'snake' from here back to the holding tank.
After the pump it is a down-hill run for the waste to the thru-hull fitting at the bottom of the boat. There is also a clean-out fitting on this side of the pump that allows the use of a snake down to the thru-hull fitting.
The yellow path above is from the tank to the pump and the blue is from the pump down to the thru-hull.
The line down also has a quick disconnect on it near the pump.
The line goes down and ....
... into and through a small storage compartment that is in the step area below the head of the V-Berth.
We use this for storage, but there again the plumbing doesn't take up all that much room. We don't step on the hatch cover for it as out mattress now doesn't recess forward over that area like the original mattress did. There again we felt that was a bad design and eliminated it and added a step that makes it much easier to get in and out of the bed especially if you have shorter legs.
The discharge line exits the bottom of the compartment and from there it is but a short distance to the new thru-hull fitting. It isn't shown but this fitting can be locked to comply with Coast Guard regulations even though I don't feel it is necessary since there is no "Y" valve between the head and the holding tank and all discharge has to go to the tank and be pumped from it.
The last part of the install was replacing the white sanitation hose shown on the first page of the instal with the black hose shown above that is made to work as a suction hose. This is the intake hose from the intake thru-hull fitting and supplies the water to the head.
Above you see the white fitting that comes with the Lavac Head. It has a small hole in it so that once the pumping of water to the head ends the hose is vented and no siphoning can possibly take place. The loop is above the water line and after the picture was pushed back so that it is more vertical than shown above with the vent pointing upward.
After the vented loop the line descends to the head as shown above. That completes the intake line from the thru-hull to the head. All new and improved components.
At this point after a lot of work and a lot of money being spent, the waste system is all new with a new Lavac head, new plumbing from the head's intake to the head, the holding tank and on to the thru-hull at the bottom of the boat. Also the pump-out part of the system is all new and improved.
