......................--- Blue Sea 7610 SI-ACR (Combiner) --
==============================================================
In updating the electrical system I've gone to an approach taken by many today and have all my loads going to the House Bank and also all the charging sources (solar, engine, charger) going to the House Bank also. The 4 Trojan T-105 6 volt batteries are also tied together as the House Bank. I do still have one Off-1-2-Both switch in case I ever needed to start the diesel with the House Bank. To keep the start battery charge I have a Blue Sea 7610 ACR that combines the batteries anytime the charging sources voltage is above about 13 volts.
Above we can see the Amp Meter's Shunt to the left. Then there are fuses on each side of the ACR. One on the start battery side and the other on the house bank side. I fused it to Blue Sea's instructions and also ran wires that are sized accordingly. One nice feature of the 7610 is the SI feature. The ACR is also connected to the starter switch and during starting the ACR's circuit is opened so that non current can flow through, which could happen if say the start battery was dead and the starter tried to pull current from the house bank through the ACR. Now if that would happen I would turn the master Off-1-2-Both switch to 'Both' and could still start the diesel.
The board with all the components on it was attached to one side of the battery box and to the port side of the opening with SS screws.
I made up the 4 cables that were needed. More on how I make up cables ( HERE )
Wiring in place...
At the time this picture was taken the House Bank batteries were not in place and .....
.... the power while in the yard was coming from the start battery with a charger on it. The compartment for the start battery is just to the side and behind it.
We have a Brother's P-Touch label maker that we use to label the electrical components like above and love it.
