The final day of sailing to Hite again started with a number of tacks but the lake finally changed directions enough that we were able to make one long last tack and arrived at Hite, but before that took place …....
....................
..... we left the boat and look a nice hike up to a higher location for a better view of this part of the lake.

Dottie stopped to give all of you a friendly wave before ….

..... to a nice viewpoint of the lake with a boat off in the distance. The lake up neat the end is really beautiful with a lot of nice views of the Henry Mountains to the west.

Back down at the boat we headed out but at this point there wasn't much in the way of wind. We meet three guys out on the water in a smaller powerboat that were water-skiing just before they stopped that and motored over to talk with us. They had been dry camping off the boat for a number of days. We had a nice conversation before parting ways.

We finally arrived 'under sail' at Hite where some boaters were launching off the shore. They do have a small dock there that you can use once you get the boat into the water. The water is quite muddy in this area as the Colorado River is dumping into the lake along with the Dirty Devil River. You can see the brush in the water offshore in the picture above and we touched bottom with the center board once before getting back into deeper water. You don't want to try going much past here when the lake is this low.
In some ways it was a little anti-climatic getting to Hite after finally finishing my quest of sailing there from the dam over 150 miles down the lake. It was strange for the challenge to come to an end.

We turned the Mac around and for the first time on the trip fired the outboard up and started heading back down the lake.
....................
We passed some of the upper canyon walls ....

..... now under power instead of sail.
....................
We found a little cove off of the mouth of White Canyon to beach the boat in for the night.
....................
We were back in the brush and except for tying the boat up didn't get off here.
....................
I did spend some futile time fishing and caught a couple small Bluegill before we ate and went to bed. Our plan from here back to the ramp was to motor most of the time so that we would have more time to explore some of the side canyons we had passed sailing up the lake.
